Free Infection Control Webinar

May 17, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

NJ Department of Health is participating in a Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) initiative to promote infection control across the healthcare setting. The initiative, Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR), has been busy completing assessments and creating sustainable education opportunities for healthcare facilities in NJ, over the last year. As part of the ICAR education component, you are invited to attend a free webinar.  See below for more information.

After assessing more than 70 facilities across the healthcare spectrum, the ICAR team identified several gaps in infection prevention and opportunities for improvement. As part of a continuing educational initiative, the ICAR team will offer quarterly webinars to facilities to discuss these priority areas of infection prevention. The New Jersey ICAR team is excited to offer you our first-ever educational webinar, focused on proper glucometer use! Please see attached for a promotional flyer.

This webinar will premiere three ICAR videos on glucometers and infection prevention, highlighting:

  • Glucometer use and cleaning
  • Cleanliness of the medication preparation area
  • Injection safety

The ICAR team created these videos to educate staff on infection prevention through in-services, trainings, or skills days. Additionally, the ICAR team created a facilitated discussion leader guide to stimulate discussion among healthcare staff. The scenarios depicted in each video were identified as areas where discussion could assist with identifying poor infection control practices.

The webinar will be on May 17, 2017 from 12 to 1 pm. Please see the attached flyer for more information. You can register at: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/7436564868756657409. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. The ICAR team looks forward to it!
