Dear NJAASC Members:
I could not be more excited for the opportunity to advocate for the members of NJAASC and to continue working with the Board and our management company, Public Strategies Impact (PSI), as NJAASC’s new president.
However, when I was appointed president in December 2021, I did not have the opportunity to share information about my background had I been elected during a typical election process. So, I thought I would more formally “introduce” myself here.
I have a long history working in the healthcare industry, more specifically in the ambulatory surgery center arena, where, for more than 25 years I have worked in the OR, as well as held positions in leadership, education, as a director of nursing and as a surgery center administrator.
As a surgery center administrator, I joined NJAASC in 2011 and immediately became an active member of the Benchmarking, Programs and Annual Events committees. As a result of my work on these committees, I was elected to a seat on the Board in 2019 as Secretary. In 2021, I was appointed to the office of Vice President.
This work as an active NJAASC member, Board member and Board officer has prepared me well to serve as NJAASC President. My singular priority is to serve our membership by advocating on their behalf and work with our volunteer committees to provide valuable, informative programming, as well as access to best practices and timely industry news and intel.
Like you, I am wholly committed to ensuring optimal patient care and safety within the ASC environment. To that end, I believe in taking a collaborative approach when working with our Board, members, advisers and the NJDOH alike. For example, soon after becoming NJAASC President, I prioritized connecting directly with New Jersey DOH Commissioner Persichelli to keep the all-important lines of communication between our respective organizations open and invited her to address our members at the first opportunity. And she did.
And we remain vigilant about growing the relationship with the new Commissioner and the Department more generally even further on behalf of our membership.
This organization is about YOU, our members, first and foremost. To that end, I will continue to advocate for all members, work to grow membership and build our vibrant organization in a fiscally-responsible manner, with robust educational programming and open lines of communication with Trenton and regulatory bodies, vendors, partners, and other resources.
I look forward to keeping the dialogue going and genuinely welcome your ideas to ensure that all are deriving true value from NJAASC.
I hope to see you at our April Quarterly Meeting at Galloping Hill.
